So, i'll keep this short and sweet. Hello. My name is Kelly, and i'm from Missouri and it is literally misery as far as the weather goes. You know, -7.7C/18F and icy one week, then 15.5C/60F with tornadoes the next, in winter. Anyway. I'm 18, currently unemployed and looking for a job, enrolling for fall classes soon. First college experience and all. Graduated at 16, but i've been doing fuck all for a while. Let's see. I'm a simple country girl at heart, with nerdy tendencies. Grew up in the woods. Nature is my friend. I look like a total stoner even though I am not. Although. I AM into stoner rock/doom/sludge metal and all that jazz. I game JUST a little bit. Shoot me, but I have Dovahkiin tattooed on my back. Not a single fuck given. Never been religious in the slightest. and a bad experience has kept me away from any churches since the age of 12. I've also gone through my fair share of bs through life, but i'm not going to throw you all a sob story as i've seen previously.. Anyway. Reasoning being here, TJ is a cool guy. I was a member of his other boards.. terroja.com or whatever, I believe. Got some laughs and enjoyment from there. Joined this one for the hell of it..... That's all, folks! |

Oh I recognize this line line of thinking so well. It's just not true. It's yet another form of procrastination, believe me. The reasoning goes something like "once x is in place, y will surely follow". No, my good sir, it will not. Your subconscious will find new excuses no matter what social context you find yourself in. I'm not saying you have to work on it now or be forever lost. What you have to do is make yourself aware of shitty conclusions and assumptions and work on eliminating them.  I came here because TJ has been one of my favorite people for a long time now. Along with Hitch, he is up there right at the top of people that have inspired me. I'm 26 now and I've come a looooong way on the path to totality (Yeah, It's a KoRn reference :>) I was brought up christian but consider myself anti-religion and an atheist now. Christianity brought nothing but sadness, sorrow, confusion and guilt to my life. I came close to killing myself but managed to weather the psychological tsunami and came out stronger on the other side. I agree with TJ on a lot of things, a lot. The main difference I suppose is my absurdly positive outlook. I have a bedrock foundation of positivity. No matter how many curve balls life throws me, and no matter how big of an asshole a person is to me, I always come out smiling on the other side. I can't begin to tell you how wonderful of an ability this is but I'm convinced that I'm not special and most, if not all people can learn this skill. I'm not really interested in writing up a small biography here so this will have to suffice. Hi there, I'm Derrick, Nineteen, from Wisconsin. Been watching The Amazing Atheist for a few months, going through his videos, and I enjoy his sense of humor and agree with quite a majority of his views so figured couldn't hurt to join up with his forum page. Huge zombie fan, fictional survival scenarios are boss, and the zombie scenario is the greatest concentration of human evil. I'm a giant film critic, absolutely adore real concepts in movies, and I'm looking for the film institute of my dreams at the moment. Wish to write and direct my own films in the future. Not religious, raised to believe in god, but I've strayed away fairly quickly in my teens. Not because of drugs or unholy deeds, but because it just seems immoral, and anti progressive to society with how it's shown in my life and in history. Hope to enjoy my stay here.

Well, where do i start? My name is Miguel Benavides, and I'm a combat engineer in the United States Army. I wish I was infantry, because it seems as though the army has them do more shit, but I digress. My home state is Michigan, and I'm currently deployed overseas. I've been watching TheAmazingAtheist's videos for almost 2 years now, and I stumbled upon an oldie-but-gold video of his "Glenn Beck Said What?!?!". After watching the video, I found an interest to see what the forum is all about.

Hi. My name is Brett but everyone calls me Brutus. My little bother fancied himself as Popeye as a six year old. He no longer eats straight from the can, but I remain Brutus. I am six foot five and 250 pounds, so it kinda fits. I was raised Mormon, which is a bit fucked, actually. I went to University and Environmental Biology freaked me the hell out. Once it was in there, though, the rationality did its work, and I could not go back to believing all the fairy tales and other smack. So I am an ex or recovering Mormon, lol. With a science degree. And an atheist wife. Life is good. The only thing that worries me is how to raise my boy. When I remember my childhood, I cannot help but think that the mental exercise of thinking my way out of a religion is a valuable mental exercise. Like the butterfly getting out of the cocoon. Maybe we send him along to get some Anglican indoctrination, as a vaccine against more pernicious infections..like Scientology, or Mormonism, or a hippie cult? In terms of what I believe, I am a Scientist first and last. Rationality works, bitches. I have a lot of hope for the future, because we CAN engineer our way out of this shitheap, if we keep the god-bothersome faithnics and the politically retarded from dragging us into stupidity and warfare. I've never come into contact with a person, or seen a person who has the balls to speak about, or in his case "rant" what they think about the world and the people in it. Also I respect him for hating on feminists. They give the rest of us women a bad reputation. |
