I read somewhere that Legendary pictures bought the rights for a mass effect movie, that could be interesting, even though I doubt it's coming out anytime soon, if it ever does. |

The Hobbit. Huge Lord of the Rings fan and loved reading the Hobbit. Rebuild of Evangelion 3.0 because Evangelion. The Puella Magi Madoka Magica movie which isn't just a recap of the series. |

Given this history, it is surprising that the new film adaptation of "The Rum Diary", starring Mr Depp, should take such liberties with Thompson’s early novel. Written and directed by Bruce Robinson ("Withnail and I"), the film includes two insignificant lines from the book and little else. Mr Robinson concedes as much, explaining it is “for the simple reason that I’m not Hunter S. Thompson.” |

The Mass Effect movie. At the beginning, they wanted to go and make their own story. Then they decided that all the stupid idiots would prefer to see the story from the games and therefore they will fail horribly at trying to make a movie out of a game like Mass Effect which is completely based on the players actions. But people will still go to see it, me included. |

Doesn't the plot remain the same for the most part and are the choices you've made a context to that plot? I think it could be a decent alien invader-esque kind of action movie, sounds better to me than a whole different story set in the same universe. It would be cool if they make Shepherd a cold-blooded asshole in the movie. |

Well, mo. The general story stays the same, that's true, but the experience varies completely from player to player. One may have saved the Species of the Rachni, other killed their last queen. One player might have saved the galactic council, the other might have saved half the human fleet. One Player might have sacrificed Kaidan, the other one Ashley. And the general behavior plays a role, too. We are talking bout Hollywood here, so Shepard will be a great shiny hero who saves everyone. And he will be a man (that has been confirmed) even though the "real" Shepard is a woman. It would have been quite easy to create a completely different story. The whole universe is just so full of potential. Lots of organizations, mercs, spying on allies, social issues, philosophical debates and what not. They can only fuck up. |

I suppose that's true, I wasn't expecting a cinematographic masterpiece to begin with though. Given Hollywood's history concerning video game based movies, they will probably 'Michael Bay' it, regardless of using the story from the game or not. |

The Man of Steel film looks good. The haagover part 3 looks horrible. They're doing another attempt at making a shakesphere play into a movie. Much ado about nothing. The last film was good (probably because it was based at the same time period when they were written and not in modern day) so I may check it out. |

I really have not been keeping up to date with movies, the only one I know that's coming out that I want to see is Iron Man 3. I could not even name another upcoming movie, so I guess that says a lot. |
