Do You Fear Death?

That's why you only sleep on December 32nd, man.
I must remind you too that you're surrounded by a bunch of cowards who aren't intimate with their own death and look to the external world for protection and will call the cops on you if your personal identity and self expression is perceived as not in accordance with the norms because they don't understand that it's the love of the creation and suffering that you go through that makes you truly appreciate life, and have been conditioned to chase all this fake bullshit that these cats attach their identity to to cover up what they're feeling inside, creating all these toys and gimmicks to keep their mind distracted, erecting these towers of power, looking for ways to alter this being, using the people as puppets, guinea pigs and cannon fodder because they hate themselves and the fact that one day their heart will expire. So they yoke these cats sexual desire with their printed money notes and they end up wasting their lives away attaching themselves to material things because they're dead inside, their mind wanders everywhere, never the ever-present now, they get fooled into the work force and become a slave to the system of sex magic, and grow old never really experiencing life, you know.

They create this dis-ease, they've got us all figured out, but there's no need to fear, it's only the thinking mind.

You gotta feel it, man. You see, society is a total mind fuck. You gotta unravel this beast and go into a lot of dark places to understand the R-complex, half the time you don't know if you'll ever emerge. I've got my eye on you cats.

Yes or I would've been dead a long time ago. Must admit what my mother and brother would think of me if I killed myself keeps me alive also. But yes, I fear death. What happens when you die? How does this being that is you not exist any longer? Sorry I can't conceive of that. But I don't believe in God either. I like the thought of reincarnation though. don't believe in it, but like the thought.

Why not, you didn't exist before and you wont exist anymore sometime in the future. Perhaps you can't because you just don't want to not exist.

That deserves a spoiler, c'mon!

My feelings are essentially like Ardat's on this.

I don't know why, but this seems like it fits:

I really like that song. I have no idea why, it's just great.

The scene it comes from is just as good, though the song is cut short.

Meh. . . .

Eternal life is a way more disturbing thought than oblivion.
It's basically yes and no.
I instinctively fear death and will try to avoid it, but the concept itself doesn't scare me, though it used to.
At Utøya, what I actually feared in regards to death(aside from it probably being horribly painful and gruesome) was trivial shit such as how probably no one on the forums and sites I go to knew I was there.
I basically imagined conversations there like
"Where did BB go?"
"He doesn't seem to come here anymore. *shrug*"
That scared me.
How is it a disturbing thought?

Those who fear God fear death and thus don't have a true conception of immortality, the seed lies amongst the profane until the cycle is broken allowing ascendancy above the managed. The truth does indeed look strange to the ones with eyes to gaze.

So it goes.

I fear death as a concept because of the inherent uncertainty, and if I were in position to seriously consider my own mortality I'm certain I would prefer (almost) any sort of afterlife to the mere cessation of existence.

I feel a tad hypocritical admitting the cowardice and fear I would be gripped by at gates of consciousness, but I think nearly everyone of sound mind would feel much the same.

Granted, a decent amount of the time I feel like glorifying the fact that death means the ending of a person as an identifiable mind due to the necessity of such a process, but that's more of a societal thing then anything derived from the entropy of life itself.

Sorry if those thoughts seemed a tad disjointed, I have some fairly decent excuses but I would probably lose credibility if I were to list them.

I didn't, sorry for not clarifying, and @superpig I would sacrifice my loved ones in order to save billions of people, wouldn't be too disturbing for me at all.

Actually, I don't think it would be that simple but the situation Brainblow introduced is completely different.
In the case of eternal life you wouldn't be losing your family member for some noble cause, they would just be dying as people do. You must see that there is a difference between the two.
