Am I the only one annoyed by his constant use of stereotypical characters and the whole Dark Tower concept yet can't force myself to put away the book before I get to the anti-climatic ending? |

Stephen King pisses me off. I get the addictiveness of his books (sometimes), but mostly he is just fail. I haven't wanted to touch a book of his since I read Dreamcatcher. |

For light reading on your lunch break; Stephen King makes a solid choice. However, I agree that his endings have annoyed me on more than one occasion. Edited by Taelôk, 4 Jul 2012, 01:22 AM.

Don't despair, your mother loves you. Don't be proud, because she has to.

After reading both The Regulators and Desperation, I finished my King love. Started up the ol Dark Tower series, and gave up. Too, I don't know...masturbatory. "Hey, I'm going to write a series where I, Stephen King, am god. Or a living MacGuffin. I haven't decided yet. Hey, is that a van?" |

I really hated it, especially the dumb ending - but hey, it's Stephen King: if he could, he would've left the story with no ending whatsoever. |

Yeah the ending sucked but the rest wasn't too bad.

The reason why he's so addictive and disappointing is because he's great at creating atmosphere and build up. The characters that occupy that atmosphere and the resolution of the plot after all that build up is a completely different matter... |
