Honestly, the entire debate could be broken up into either one of two outcomes per each topic discussed. They either both (almost) completely agreed with each other and had no need to debate the topic, or they both pussied out and said, "WELL I GUESS WE JUST CANT DEBATE THIS CUZ WE BOTH GOT DIFFERENT VIEWS ON IT FUNDAMENTALLY!!!111!" Really? You're not going to debate something because you have different views? Is that not the point of a fucking debate? Some people might say that their different beliefs (like on death penalty for example) were too fundamentally different for them to come to any sort of agreement, but coming to an agreement is not really the purpose of debate, in my opinion the purpose is for both sides to provide their point of view and defend it from criticisms presented by the other side. Also the moderator should have spoken to the two guys before the debate to make sure that he would have them discuss topics that they actually fucking disagree on, JEBUS CHRIST! Does anyone else agree or am I being a whiny pussnugget? Edited by gpig07, 15 Jun 2012, 08:49 AM.

It wasn't that bad. Saying they 'just have fundamental differences' means they put priorities on different values- there's no real way to debate that. I much prefer seeing TJ in these debates to his shitty output on his own channel recently. |

I am inclined to agree with Jeff. Though I only was able to watch about a quarter of the 'debate,' I enjoy seeing TJ engaged in worth while discussion rather than spewing crude insults to people who won't bother replying (or they're just not aware of his criticisms). Not that I'm against spewing crude insults, I just want to see a response, that's all. |

I might watch it one day when I'm good and drunk, but unless TJ is ranting and raving about politics, religion, etc. in a stand up comedy sort of way, I get bored pretty quick. |

You're a fetus, your brain hasn't fully developed yet. When it does, you'll value seeing TJ challenged more. |

Well if they have fundamentally differing philosophical perspectives that it's useless to argue for argument's sake because you're trying to change one's very moral makeup. One thinks it inherently wrong to let sanction the state to kill, the other thinks it inherently wrong to let a known murderer live, for example - there is not always a rationale behind it. Take BadHouses for example, he believes the state to be fundamentally wrong and the reasons he has for that come from his very perception of right and wrong. I also think the debate perfectly demonstrates how American politics having an approval rating of Vaginasaur is not a left/right issue. |

Yeah I guess the point I was trying to make is that if two people "fundamentally" disagree on an issue and subsequently are not going to debate something, why bring it up in a debate setting? It just seems like they should have better prepared with topics that they are willing to debate on, although to be fair this is only the third or forth in that Polipop debate series thing, and hopefully the debates will improve with time (Not saying that they were completely without substance, but w/e.) |
