Can I ask how would you know you wanted to be a firefighter, or like a police officer, or a teacher without actually doing it? How do you find what you have a passion for? |

I just want to learn and master as much as I can. I always have several pet projects running at any given time. As long as I can do this, everyting else I do is incidental. |

You don't have to be a teacher to talk to kids and explain things to them. Try things! Besides, large part of every work is tedious paperwork, nobodly likes EVERYTHING about their job. Happiness is a matter of good shit/bad shit ratio. |

Research several different career pathways. Do you want to work with other people, or do you want private or independent work? Do you like computers? Are you good at writing? These are the questions you need to ask yourself. Find an interest that matches up great with something you're good at. |

Just try things, see what toasts your bread. If you have multiple ideas on what you want to do with your life, then don't be bogged down with the idea of "well I want to be this but I also want to be this, I can only be one." you can always be a renaissance man. |

Ive never been interested in anything really and im mediocre or bad at everything ive ever tried, so i guess i got the same problem Tried a bunch of different jobs over the last 3 years and ive gone into some of them with my usual negative *meh i dont think ill like this* attitude and some where i try to stay positive no matter what... only difference seems to be that people talk to you more when your positive...which isnt allways a good thing ^^ the jobs themselves are a pain cuz im overly critical of myself, i never feel like im doing a good job and that makes me feel like i cant do it. Doesnt matter how much others praise me, i just feel like they are just saying that to be polite andf encourage me... Anyway the search goes on and now i got a job where i go out on missions to do any number of things like cleaning, painting, forrest work, building stuff,fishing.. so i get alot of experience in many fields. If im gonna be totally honest i dont want to work and ive never wanted to... i used to think everyone felt that way but apparantly people love to work, it gives them a purpose....which i dont feel like i need xD |

*Something awe inspiring and clever* - some smrt guy.... *The opposite of love isn't hate, it's indifference* felt like i had to have this cuz of my name >.< | |

Why does your job have to be a major cornerstone of your life? Very few people get jobs that fulfill them as human beings. A job is only a means to an end, which for me is to get paid each week. Find a hobby and pursue that. |

For me, the job I'll get will be important because I'll spend a large percent of my life doing that. |

No doubt, which is why I too will be going to school to better my lot. However, no matter what I end up doing; my job will unlikely be my raison d'être. Our culture puts too much of a person's identity in what they do for money, it need not be. |

Yeah, but that's about social status and stereotypes. We are talking about joy and happiness here. The level of happiness someone has does depend (to an extent, it varies from individual to individual) on his job, not because he gets money from that job, but because it's a big and important part of his life.
